Video Tapers Wanted

Tags:

We're looking for volunteers to video-tape the sessions and post them for those who aren't able to attend.

Please post here if you can help with this effort.

jjeff,
thanks for taping. but is it possible to have the presenters save the screencast plus audio drupal dojo style?

if i had to choose between the screen and seeing the presenter, I would pick the screencast.

http://groups.drupal.org/node/3097 has instructions

I don't know if you've seen one of these dojo lessons. but they are really fantastic.

and the audience can use irc to ask questions

thanks

I can video all the ones I'm going to. I'm planning on:

  • Day One:
  • Rasmus Lerdorf
  • Video Delivery with Drupal
  • Theming Drupal
  • Designer Eye for the Geek Guy/Gal
  • Building Community Online
  • Day Two:
  • Drupal Lightning Talks
  • Dries Buytaert: The State of Drupal
  • FormAPI Inside Out
  • AHAH! - Ajax + FormAPI = More Responsive UI
  • jQuery
  • Site structuring and navigation

I'm only willing to do a "set it and forget it" type recording though, since I want to spend my efforts learning.

I'll be happy to turn the Hi8 tapes over to someone else for editing. I don't have a lot of time, or know-how in that respect.

especially for us on the other side of the Atlantic! Thanks a lot :)

I'll do what i can.. I have an older Sony PC100 DV camera i can use... or let someone use it. Maybe i can dig up a tripod too.

hey hey

hey hey

I should mention that we're looking for people who can get the video all the way from the camera to the web. These days, this is a relatively straight-forward (though time consuming) task. However I just want to be clear that we're NOT looking for a pile of DV tapes. If you're going to record video, please coordinate a plan to convert the video into a format suitable for posting on-line.

It looks like Yahoo! has a video service that we could use to host.

Thanks

I'll convert and upload.

I'll shop around for good video hosting (or build a dedicated youtube clone) if I can find someone to help me update the attachment module to drupal 5.x.

That would cut out the extra time I would need.

for Drupal-Dojo videos, we use screen-capture video,
and to keep it in its original hi-res, (and unlimited space) -
we host all these videos on www.zudeo.com (free)
it also create automatically torrent link, seeds and everything needed (for super-fast delivery).

for OSCMS - i also recommend - using a screen capture software as much as possible, it can record whatever is on the screen, and the speaker's voice.
that will eliminate the need for a video-camera, camera-man, editing, converting, etc.

(and i heard another idea to have all OSCMS sessions VNC-streamed, like we do in drupal-dojo)

i'll be happy to help with any support needed.

I am going to the same talks as jonfhancock on Day One, but I'll be willing (and come prepared) to video the following on Day Two:

  • Drupal Installation Profiles: rolling your own Drupal distrobution
  • CiviCRM: Integrated Constituent Relationship Management for Drupal and Joomla.
  • Drupal Dojo (or Date + Calendar in Drupal if the Dojo is going to be recorded as it normally is)
  • Drupal: The next generation wiki
  • XML, Mashups and Drupal-as-platform

Seems google is good as they don't have size limits. (youtube is 100mb). I plan to talk a little bit about this in my session, which I see you are in!

But anyway, I need to research how to record the screen and webcast it for people who can't attend...of course I don't want to get bogged down in this and neglect the session itself.

What do you use for screen capture video?

as far as i know from what we used in drupaldojo -

for Mac - Snapz Pro

for PC - Camtasia Studio

I just realized gotomeeting does a pretty good job of recording the screen - and you get to telecast a meeting too (for 10 more people) - I am going to use it for my session. Contact me for more details.

Audio from Rasmus' Welcome

Video from :

- Joomla!
- Boris and Jeff Show
- Designer Eye

I'll have these uploaded as soon as I can.

Today I got:

Video Delivery with Drupal
Half of Theming (ran out of tape)
Building Community

Where are you uploading to? I would like to keep them all in the same place.

Shaal recommended zudeo. Would that be good to load to, or is YouTube preferred?

Getting YUI session now.

Laird from Pando offered to host the vids for us.

Lets get together with him (online or off), and discuss the details.

I'm wheels up and back to Pittsburgh tomorrow morning. Pando sounds good to me. Hope .mov files are okay.

Yeah... returning to Pgh. That's me.

hello:

do you have the recordings of the above videos uploaded someplace ? if so, can you please share url ?

thx.

yashesh bhatia.

i tried to find as many cameramen i could in OSCMS
(thank you all for your efforts)

so for whoever i didn't find yet -
if u need ANY technical support or have any question -
about how to get your videos from the camera - to the world,
please write to me through my contact here.

Ok, what I got:

  • Video Delivery with Drupal
  • Building Community Online
  • Drupal Lightning Talks
  • The State of Drupal
  • FromsAPI Inside Out
  • jQuery: Making JavaScript Fun Again

Sorry I didn't get more, but I had less tape than I thought.

I have them all captured to my HD, now I just need to convert them, and upload them.

We've talked about hosting the videos with Pando, and I've heard the Dojo guys want to help out. We need to decide officially what we're going to do. We should probably also decide on a format to use.

I'm using Super to convert all the video. It will pretty much convert any format to any other. I don't know if it runs on mac though.

Ok, I went ahead and hosted mine on Google. You can find them here:
