Description:

A key strength of Joomla! is templating.

This session begins with an overview of the Joomla! template structure. Attendees will see how to modify the delivered template; locate and install free and commercial Joomla! templates; and, finally, markup an open source template for use with Joomla!.

The overview is intended to share basic options available for Joomla! designers but will not cover CSS techniques, SEO considerations, or the all time favorite debate on "tables versus div tags."

Yahoo! & this page are cool...

The debate on "tables versus div tags" really ought to be referred to the "making sites accessible, usable, and high SEO ranking" debate.

The key weakness of Joomla! is also the templating. It is very limiting to what control the developing team has over the layout. It is a pity that you will be having a panel/discussion on perpetuating the lack of concern towards very basic web standards.

You are running a Mambo website - which is essentially the same as Joomla! v 1.0.x. ;) Joomla! v 1.5 opens 100% of the output to template designers to do whatever they want with the output. So, accessibility issues can be carefully provided for.

However - for the presentation I covered various templating options open to the end user. Just like I described above. I only had *one* hour and I am not an accessibility expert. So, I wanted to make certain those who attended the presentation understood what I was and was *not* going to cover. Consider it truth in advertising. ;)

All the best!
Amy :)
