John currently runs the Stanford Online Accessibility Program [SOAP], which has been established to provide guidance and insight to the Stanford Community as they use various online means to share information to their respective constituents. The program has neither the mandate nor desire to tell content creators what to do, but rather to assist these same creators in producing material that is accessible to the greatest audience possible through the promotion of Universal Accessibility and web standards compliance.

Previously working as an independent consultant and web-developer in Ottawa, Canada, for 2 years he consulted as a member of the Canadian Treasury Board web accessibility testing team, advising and recommending Federal departments and agencies on issues of online accessibility, before creating his own company in 2003. www.WATS.ca delivered web accessibility services including audits, training and development, as well as numerous speaking engagements on the same topic. Notable Federal departments included Communications Canada, the Canadian Space Agency and the Supreme Court of Canada.
