Description:

Drupal 5 introduced a incredibly easy to use installer. Along with this new feature comes the concept of "installation profile," with which you can create Drupal "distributions" containing a pre-selected and pre-configured set of modules.

Scott Trudeau at Pando is working on a Drupal "distribution" to make it easy to deploy sites for sharing large files using the Pando file sharing platform. In this session, he'll cover the steps he took to create the distribution and discuss any challenges encountered.

I mostly build websites for non-profit clients. Although each client requires a unique site, there are many factors that overlap. Being able to create a distribution that contains all the required modules, custom content types (which can take a long time to configure), and other site elements would save me a couple of days of initial work when first setting up a site for a client.

This sounds like a great session.

One of Drupal 5's selling points is install profiles! Two great examples are Civicspace on Demand and Bryght. Good work home slice.

If you're planning on attending this session and looking for something specific or have anything to contribute ahead of time, feel free to post here, on the distributions group or email me -- scott -AT- pando -DOT- com

Thanks to those who came to the session, and especially to Boris and Kieran for there very helpful additions. Follow up over at groups.drupal.org/distributions
