Got Traffic? Making Drupal SEO Savvy

Tags:

I would love to see a session on "Making Drupal SEO-Aware". With a few contrib modules, Drupal is already 60% "search friendly" but that's still a hell of a long way from "search savvy".

I'm not talking about black-hat stuff (link spamming, cloaking, sneaky redirects or keyword stuffing) but rather optimizing the legal stuff by making Drupal aware of keyword goals -- able to provide search engines with a high degree of planned clarity and focus.

Here's an outline of my fantasy "DRUPAL SEO" session:

Automated Onsite SEO:

  - integrated keyword planning: automated long-tail keywords ladders
  - automatically matching user-generated content to keyword targets
  - identifying content pages and blocking spiders from the rest
  - using internal search results to enhance keyword focus
  - enforcing fixed keyword URLs (with subdomains) for content pages
  - automated interlinking tactics to feed the spiders exactly what they want
  - tracking and automatically responding to search results (auto-sweetening)

Automated Offsite Promotion:

  - using keyword awareness to multiply effectiveness of inbound link campaigns
  - segmenting members to build an army of link volunteers
  - creating viral campaigns that build keyword-targeted inbound links
  - keyword inbound links with RSS, newsletters, press releases, syndication etc.
